SHAWNEE, Okla. —
Oklahoma’s CareerTech educators from across the state recently participated in training for the Oklahoma CareerTech Instructors as Mentors program held at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education in Stillwater. During the training counselors, instructors and administrators from technology centers learned to implement a program designed to foster one-to-one relationships between each student and at least one adult mentor. The purpose of this program is to provide guidance and advisement in career or post-secondary education at that technology center.
Mike Matlock, assistant superintendent of instruction at Gordon Cooper Technology Center, shared some of Gordon Cooper’s best practices in student services.
