SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Tecumseh FFA’s Kelby Rounsaville captured the top honors here Tuesday in the sheep competition of the Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show, winning both the grand champion and reserve grand champion awards.
The three showmanship awards in the sheep competition were won by three different individuals from Asher FFA, McLoud FFA and the Homegrown 4-H group.
The goat competition was continuing Tuesday evening at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center.
The annual show continues today with beef judging starting at 11 a.m. The swine competition is scheduled for Thursday, with the show’s finale the premium auction Friday evening.
Rounsaville, 17, and a senior at Tecumseh High School, is the son of Gina and Gerald Rounsaville. He won the grand championship honors with his Hampshire and the reserve grand champion trophy with his Natural, both in the heavyweight division of the sheep where he took division and reserve division honors.
Rounsaville said he’s been showing sheep since he was nine years old.
He recently also was honored as one of the eight recipients of the Gordon Richards FFA awards.
Chambers Livestock sponsored the grand champion trophy and Finley Cleaners was the sponsor of the reserve grand champion award.
Claiming senior showmanship honors was Tyler Boles, Asher FFA. He’s 17, attends Asher High School and the son of Jill Boles, Asher, and Mark Boles, Chickasha.
Boles said he won the showmanship honors with his Division 3, middleweight lamb. Boles said he has been exhibiting sheep since he was nine. He won the senior showmanship honors during last year’s show in both the sheep and goats.
His grandfather, Larry Chambers, is one of the two honorees of this year’s show. Chambers is a retired longtime vo-ag instructor whose students at Asher excelled and dominated the sheep competition for a number of years.
Sponsoring the intermediate trophy was Shawnee Feed Center.
Winning the intermediate showmanship honors in the sheep judging was Danielle Haslin, McLoud FFA. Haslin, 15, is a freshman at McLoud High School and the daughter of Trina and Danny Haslin. She said she’s been showing for three years.
Kiara Foster, 9, and the daughter of Jacob and Ericka Pinion, captured the junior showmanship award. She’s a member of the Homegrown 4-H Club.
The trophy was sponsored by Arvest Bank.
