The Western Fair Trail Ride promises to be a day-long, horse ridin’, boot-stompin’, good-eatin’, great time with somethin’ for just about everyone. That’s the pledge of organizers for the Saturday, May 17, event at the Prague Lake Recreation Area.
“Whether or not you own a horse, this event is a day to relax, have fun and be entertained,” said Western Fair Trail Ride Coordinator Sherri White. “If you’re not a horse person, come on out anyway. There’s fishing, pony and buggy rides, an inflatable slide, delicious food and much more.”
The day begins with a Trail Ride at 10 a.m. Riders will traverse the 8.3 mile trek around Prague Lake before arriving back to base about 2 p.m.
An auction, which includes tack, western home accessories, a 100 year old ‘pew for two,’ and other items begins at 2 p.m.
Dinner includes pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, dessert and drink from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
After dinner, sit a spell or kick up your heals (or both) to the sound of Ironhorse, performing until dark-thirty.
“We’re so excited to have Ironhorse perform at the event,” White said. “They’re a wonderful and extremely entertaining local band covering everything from Country to Rock. They plan to play about four hours. They’ll begin their performance during dinner and end, well, sometime after the sun has disappeared.”
Ironhorse is a multi-faceted and versatile group covering several music genres. They’ve opened for Exile, Jason Aldean, David Allen Coe, Johnny Paycheck and were joined on stage by Tanya Tucker during a performance in Oklahoma City.
