The dog shot in the head a week ago during a home invasion-style robbery attempt gave birth to seven puppies Tuesday morning.

Their owner, Tabitha Billings, said all of the newborns were born healthy. The puppies began arriving at 12:36 a.m. Tuesday.

Tabitha Billings had been playing with her 3-year-old son, Alexander, after dinner Sept. 22 when a man with a silver gun and two bandanas covering his face opened the door and pointed the gun at them, she said. The medium-sized mixed breed dog named Jada came around the corner to attack the gunman, who pulled the trigger before backing out of the house and fleeing.

The bullet grazed the pregnant dog’s head just above her left eye.

Billings has since moved to a new location, where Jada gave birth today. Billings said she has already promised to give four of the puppies to family members.
