A broken water line forced some businesses to close Wednesday along North Harrison Street in Shawnee.
Crews worked most of the day to repair the line, getting the water flowing by 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Shawnee Water Utility Manager Randy Brock said.
The 10-inch water main broke at Harrison and Payne streets, forcing the city to shut off water from Independence to Grant while crews repaired the line.
Jimmy’s Egg on Harrison was forced to close down at 8 a.m. and was not able to reopen at all Wednesday because normal business hours are 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., owner Kelly Hall said.
Dr. Brian Drew’s dental office was able to remain open during the water outage because the office had bottled water on hand.
Shawnee residents were not affected by the break and its cause has not been determined, Brock said.
