FireLake Grand Casino will partner with the Oklahoma Blood Institute to sponsor a blood drive 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Casino.
According to research from the Oklahoma Blood Institute, every two seconds someone needs blood. Yet, 10 percent of Oklahoma’s healthy population consistently donates.
“By taking an hour out of your day, you could save the life of one of your fellow Oklahomans,” said Brad Peltier, director of marketing for FireLake Grand Casino. “This one hour could help a crash victim or a transplant patient.”
To thank all patrons who donate, the Oklahoma Blood Institute will be giving away drawstring backpacks and a chance to win a $50 gas gift card. FireLake Grand Casino will be giving away five free entries into the FireLake Grand Casino’s 2008 Dodge Challenger Mega Promotion drawing.
“Not only are you saving a life, but you get a free backpack, cookies and a chance to win a brand new car,” Peltier said. “Another benefit to donating is that you could find out your risk for coronary heart disease.”
High blood cholesterol levels can put a person at risk for developing heart disease. OBI will provide cholesterol screenings on donors for free. The test results will be mailed to the donor.
“Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of Oklahomans,” Peltier said. “By donating, you could be saving your own life.”
