Volksmarch event spurs on fitness

Shawnee, OK —

Saturday, May 24 will begin a three-day weekend of non-competitive fitness and fellowship walk/jog/run events sponsored by the World Wide Walkers of Tulsa and the Holy Family Walkers Volksmarch Club of Lawton.
The first event will be hosted by the Holy Family Walkers Volksmarch Club in the city park in Prague on Main Street. Residents should arrive between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. with everyone finished by 5 p.m. Residents can walk 3.1 miles or 6.2 miles.
The event is free unless residents are in the incentive program or wish to purchase an award for completing the course. Bratwurst, chips and drinks will be available for purchase.
On May 25, residents are encouraged to join the World Wide Walkers at Okemah’s Noble Park between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. with the trail finished by 5 p.m. Residents also can participate in the trail starting between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. from the pavilion on the corner of Park Street and Wewoka Avenue in Wewoka.
On May 26, Holy Family Walkers Volksmarch Club will host the final event of the weekend with the option of a 3.7 mile trail or 6.8 mile trail. The event will be in Shawnee starting between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Woodland Park.
