Sophomore right-hander Savanna Humphrey extended her scoreless string to 18 innings Friday as Bethel edged Plainview 2-0 at the Tuttle Tournament.
Humphrey, 3-0 with wins of 1-0, 7-0 and 3-0, gave up just two hits in the six-inning contest. She fanned seven and didn’t permit a walk.
Both of Bethel’s runs came on a home run over the left center field fence by Kayla Brown in the fourth inning.
The Lady Wildcats finished with seven hits as Brittany Watson led the way with two singles.
Bethel (3-0) is scheduled to play at least two tournament games today, beginning with a 3:30 contest versus Tuttle.
Dales goes 1-1
CUSHING — Dale’s Lady Pirates went 1-1 Friday but still won their pool at the Cushing Tournament.
Dale dropped a 4-3 eight-inning decision to Hominy but rebounded for a 12-0 shutout of Agra.
Dale will take on Depew today at 1 p.m. in the tournament championship game.
Against Hominy, Dale went up 3-2 with a run in the top of the eighth inning, only to have Hominy score twice in the bottom of the frame for the victory.
Dale posted six hits, led by Leah Bohanon with a single and double. Ashley Sanford contributed two singles while Sara Vance had a double for Dale.
Holly Hill was the losing hurler, despite giving up just four hits.
Opposite Agra, Sanford didn’t permit a hit in the four-inning game and whiffed six. She also led Dale’s 10-hit attack with a double and single. Vance and Amanda Harrell recorded two singles each.
