Hill propels Savages over Racers

NEWCASTLE, Okla. —

Kevin Hill drove in five runs Tuesday night as Tecumseh held off late-rallying Newcastle 10-8.
Tecumseh, after scoring four runs in the top of the sixth, held a 9-1 lead. Newcastle sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth while scoring seven runs, but Tecumseh collected one run in the top of the seventh, then held the Racers scoreless in the bottom of the inning for the win.
Tecumseh had scored two runs in the first and third innings for a 4-0 lead.
Hill unloaded a three-run home run in the sixth and an RBI triple in the fourth.
Hill finished at 3-of-4 with two runs scored.
Jesse Belvin of Tecumseh drove in two runs off two hits.
Tecumseh outhit Newcastle 11-5 but the Savages committed four errors. Newcastle was errorless.
Tecumseh, 12-12, will entertain Newscastle and Harrah in a three-way competition Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

Magby thee-hitter
earns Asher split
ASHER — Right-hander Dakota Magby twirled a seven-hitting three-hitter Tuesday as Asher blanked Amber-Pocassett, 3-0, in the first game of a doubleheader.
Magby fanned five and walked six.
Asher got run-scoring singles by Derek Claytor and Damien Doshier.
In the nightcap, Asher was limited to one hit, an RBI double by Tanner Fowler, in a 9-1 loss.
Matt Johnson took the loss after going 3 2/3 innings. He gave up seven hits and fanned two
Asher, 13-9, will play two games at Fort Cobb Friday. The Indians will take on Fort Cobb and Carnegie. Saturday, Asher will collide with Vici at Fort Cobb.
 
 Purcell slips
past Pirates
PURCELL — The Dale Pirates matched bats with Purcell’s Dragons Tuesday, but ultimately let a 10-0 lead slip away in falling 12-11.
Both teams collected 14 hits and committed one error.
Tyler Holton started on the mound for Dale, striking out five batters and issuing a pair of walks in three innings. Dustin Sanders took the loss in three innings of relief, also fanning five batters and walking two.
Holton and Sanders gave up six runs each.
Led by Trace Dilliner’s three-run homer — his second on the season — the Pirates forged ahead to a 6-0 lead in the first inning. Dilliner went 3-for-4 on the day.
The Pirates extended their lead to 10-0 in the top of the second before the Dragons tacked on a pair of runs in their share of the frame. Purcell shaved the Pirates’ lead to four, 10-6, in the bottom of the third, and edged to within 10-8 in the bottom of the of the fourth.
Dale added its last run in the top of the fifth before the Dragons closed out the scoring with a four-run sixth inning.
At the plate for Dale, Ty Flewallen connected for three hits in four at-bats. Holton and Landon Coon each finished 2-for-4 with a double, and Dalton Streber finished 2-for-4 with a pair of triples.
Michael Harris swatted a double in three at-bats.
The Pirates, now 9-5, will take on Midwest City at 1:30 p.m. today in the Shawnee Sonic Showdown.
