Shawnee Board of Education members will meet in regular session 7 p.m. today, and among agenda items is an update on the construction progress at the Shawnee High School Performing Arts and Athletic Center.
Marilyn Bradford, superintendent of Shawnee Public Schools said a handful of last-minute details remain before the facility is totally complete. Some carpet work, paint touch-up and concrete staining remain, as well as the installation of the seating in the auditorium.
“The final things have been slow, but it’s taking shape,” Bradford said.
Bradford said school officials hope to at least have the gymnasium portion of the facility up and running in time to hold the 2008-09 high school basketball games.
In other business, board members will consider quotes on concrete work that will join the high school building with the performing arts ad athletic center.
