DALE — A heavy but short rain was the only thing that held Dale’s softballers back Tuesday.
The Lady Pirates raised their record to 11-5 with a five-inning, 11-1 bombardment of Stratford.
“It rained really hard for about six or seven minutes in the fourth quarter,” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “Then the sun came out.”
The rain delay lasted approximately 20 minutes.
Victorious hurler Holly Hill (7-5) permitted just two hits. She whiffed six and didn’t give up a walk.
Dale tallied four runs in the first inning, two in the second and five in the fourth.
Amanda Harrell led Dale’s 14-hit parade with three singles. Collecting two hits apiece for the Lady Pirates were Ashley Sanford, Sara Vance, Leah Bohannon and Chelsea Jordan. Sanford and Vance had a double apiece.
Ranked 14th in Class 2A, Dale will take on visiting Wewoka Thursday at 4:30 p.m. The Lady Pirates will be off Friday, then play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Prague.
Earlboro 15, Bowlegs 5
Earlsboro 17, Bowlegs 3
EARLSBORO — The Lady Wildcats of Earlsboro had little trouble with Bowlegs Tuesday, sweeping the visitors 15-5 and 17-3 in a pair of three-inning games.
Shaina Bender earned the opening-game win with a two-hitter. She hit two batters but didn’t issue a walk, Bender also chipped in offensively with a double.
Also getting in the extra-base hit category for Earlsboro were Kyla Hopkins with a double and Megan Maloy with a triple.
In the nightcap, Maloy collected the pitching decision with a three-hitter. She fanned four and didn’t walk a batter.
Bianca Gutierrez was Earlsboro’s second-game hitting ringleader at 3-for-4, including two doubles and a three-bagger.
Arion Harris went 2-for-2 with a triple and single while Maloy posted two doubles. Bender chipped in with a double and triple.
Earlsboro, 7-6, will play Dewar Thursday in the Moss Tournament.
 Little Axe 2, Tecumseh 0
LITTLE AXE — The Lady Savages of Tecumseh were shut out for the first time during the 2008 season as Little Axe posted a 2-0 decision Tuesday.
Tecumseh compiled five hits but struck out eight times.
Kim Billie was Tecumseh’s only multipile hitter with a single and double in three official at-bats.
Billie also absorbed the pitching loss to fall to 15-6. She gave up four hits but two were solo home runs — in the first and third innings. Billie fanned four.
Tecumseh had one serious scoring threat, loading the bases in the first inning.
“We hit a lot of balls hard but Little Axe just made some good defensive plays,” Tecumseh head coach Chad Trahan said. “Both teams played well. It was a good high school softball game.”
Tecumseh’s varsity (15-6) will play at 4:30 p.m. today at Shawnee.
Chandler 12, Prague 0
PRAGUE — Kaitlin Terrell twirled a two-hitter Tuesday as Chandler riddled Prague, 12-0. Terrell surrendered two hits, fanned seven and walked one.
Freshman McKenzie Solberg smashed a grand slam home run in the sixth inning.
Perkins will play at Chandler Thursday.
Bethel 2, Jones 0
JONES – Savanna Humphrey threw a seven-inning one-hitter Tuesday as Bethel eked out a 2-0 triumph over Jones.
Humphrey, who gave up one infield single, struck out eight and didn’t issue a walk.
Bethel had just three hits — a single apiece by Michali Thompson, Olivia Farris and Jessica Simmons. Bethel tallied a run in the first inning and a run in the sixth.
The Lady Wildcats, 12-2, will contest Byng and Seminole Thursday at Byng, beginning at 4 p.m.
Meeker 2, McLoud 0
McLOUD — Meeker’s Lady Bulldogs netted two runs in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday to upend McLoud, 2-0.
Victorious pitcher Kristen Goodnight served up five hits, one walk and fanned five. She also plunked a batter in improving to 10-6.
Both of Meeker’s runs came on McLoud throwing errors.
Kristen Green of McLoud had a double while teammate Rikki Wooten collected two singles.
Meeker was limited to three singles, two of which came from Goodnight.
Meeker (12-9) will entertain a three-way competition Thursday. Meeker will oppose Wellston at 4 p.m. and Prague at 7. Wellston will tackle Prague at 5:30.
Losing pitcher Robin Huffman walked two and hit a batter.
McLoud (3-10) will host Konawa Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
