Short Comings

Today
The Shawnee Council of Garden Clubs will hold its first meeting of the 2008-09 club year at 9:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe Depot. Shirley Madden of Midwest Stone will present the program. The council officers will provide refreshments.

Thursday
Overeaters Anonymous meets at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, 1625 N. Broadway in Shawnee. For more information, call Oteka Ball at 275-2594.

Saturday
The governing council meeting for Sac and Fox Nation tribal members will be held at 10 a.m. in the Community Building at the Sac and Fox Nation Capitol Complex, five and a half miles south of Stroud on SH 99. A continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

The Shawnee Twin Lakes Association will host a sailboat rally at 1 p.m. at Shawnee Twin Lake No. 1. The boats will sail in the area of the dam for about one and half hours, and all participants will be fed hot dogs after the rally. Anyone with a sailboat is welcome to participate.

Sept. 2
The Shawnee High School class of 1958 reunion committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Van’s Pig Stand on East Highland.
