SHAWNEE, Okla. —

McLoud resident Megan Johnson, a broadcasting major at Rose State College, was recently selected as one of two personalities to serve as a “Face of 43.”

Johnson and Arlington, Texas, native Trey West were selected to host and promote OK43 on television and online, and began their work May 12.

Johnson holds the title of Miss Rose State College/Midwest City and Miss Northern Oklahoma International.

“This is my foot in the door,” Megan said of her selection for OK43. “I won’t let anybody down.”

Johnson is a supporter of the Special Olympics and learned sign language to help hearing impaired athletes in the competition.

West is a business finance major at The University of Oklahoma, and he does regular volunteer work for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the American Cancer Society.

“Outside of news and weather, there are very few local TV personalities,” said Jim Boyer, KFOR-TV/KAUT-TV president and general manager. “This is an unprecedented opportunity for two young people to showcase their talents. Having a local team for KAUT-TV will give us one more way to serve our viewers.”

Wes Milbourn, executive vice president and station manager, said, “It is certainly the chance of a lifetime and it’s local, right here in Oklahoma City.”

The grand prize of the OK43 talent search was a one-year contract with KAUT-TV.
The “Face of 43” talent search competition was held at Quail Springs Mall April 5.
