OKEMAH, Okla. —
An Okemah man has drowned after pulling a 4-year-old girl from a pickup truck that rolled into a pond in Okfuskee County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 51-year-old L.T. Tiggy II died in the accident shortly before 7 Thursday night.
Troopers say Tiggy was fishing from the shore of the pond with his 14-year-old son when the pickup with the girl in the bed rolled into the water.
Tiggy went into the water to rescue the girl then gave her to his son before he disappeared under the water.
His body was found by OHP divers in 11 feet of water about 40 feet from the shore.
