Overturned semi halts traffic

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Shawnee firefighters work the scene of a traffic accident Wednesday morning near the Earlsboro exit on Interstate 40. Capt. Carl Jacobs, Shawnee Fire Department, said the driver of this tractor-trailer swerved to avoid hitting another vehicle, then overcorrected, causing the rig to turn on its side. Three other minor accidents occured as officials cleared the scene, but no injuries were reported, Jacobs said. Troopers blocked the outside westbound lane of the interstate while the rig was uprighted and its cargo of frozen chicken was off-loaded onto another truck.
