Mays Home Care will hold a flu shot clinic 9 a.m. at the Shawnee Community Center, 804 S. Park. Mays will provide flu vaccinations at no cost to recipients with Medicare Part B. All others will be $20. Residents with Medicare cards need to bring them to the clinic.
The retired railroaders will meet at 11 a.m. at the I Don’t Care Restaurant, located at the Best Western Cinderella Hotel, 623 Kickapoo Spur, Shawnee.

The retirees of Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. will hear from Roger Mitchell, ONG president, at their meeting Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the I Don’t Care Restaurant at the Cinderella Inn, Shawnee. All retirees and spouses are invited to attend and hear about the latest news about ONG.
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary executive committee
will meet at noon at The Salvation Army, Ninth and Union.
The Shawnee Fire Department clowns, who put on an annual fire safety and prevention show as part of fire prevention week in October, will present an evening show. The firefighter clowns are performing at area elementary schools throughout the week and will provide the evening the show to reach home-schooled children, those students from others areas or anyone wanting to bring their children to the free event. The show begins 6:30 p.m. in the conference center at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center, U.S. 177 and Independence.
The first of three tree planting sessions for persons who ordered from the Oklahoma Tree Bank/Apache Foundation offer will be at 7:15 p.m. at the Shawnee Public Library. Additional meetings will be Oct. 12 at 2:15 p.m. and Oct. 18 at 2:15 p.m. The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.

The Pottawatomie County BPW’s October meeting will be at the Golden Corral Restaurant in Shawnee. Business meeting will start at 6:15 p.m. with guest speaker, Dora D. Obuobisa, artist in residence with the Oklahoma Arts Council as guest speaker. Obuobisa’s topic is business women in Ghana. She will teach basketweaving at the meeting.
