This letter is in regard to the Shawnee/Tecumseh water contract. My name is Warren Rutherford, and I addressed the Shawnee Commissioners meeting some eighteen months ago and recommended selling on half of the pipeline from the Shawnee Twin Lakes to the Shawnee Water Treatment Plant, to the City of Tecumseh, then taking the money from the sale to Tecumseh and fixing the Shawnee Water Treatment Plant.
This hit upon deaf ears I suppose. Today, June 29, 2008, I read in the Shawnee News Star the raw water line Shawnee Twin Lakes to the water treatment plant will be jointly owned by Shawnee and Tecumseh.
The Shawnee News Star also goes on to say the Shawnee News Star at the end, no one will be writing anyone any checks.
I hope I am missing something here, as the line is worth millions of dollars from the Wes Watkins and Shawnee Twin Lakes junction to the Shawnee Water Treatment Plant. The dual right of way (ability to lay another line from the Shawnee Twin Lakes to the Shawnee Treatment Plant) alone is worth millions of dollars.
What is the reason that Shawnee would not sell the pipeline to the city of Tecumseh, rather than simply give it to them?
Please someone enlighten me.
Warren Rutherford,
Shawnee
