To the Editor:
It has been a while since we have seen the “terror alerts” of different colors roll across the TV screen. If it were up to me, the terror alerts would come back and preempt regular programming on every channel. The terror alerts would be new ones, not those concerning al Qaeda or any other foreign enemy. I would borrow a cliché from the comedy strip of Pogo; “We have met the enemy and they are us.” I am talking about the U.S. Congress. How did such an assembly wack-o’s ever control our Congress? The answer, voters from other states put them there. If this had happened during Niketa Khrushchev’s time, we would be blaming Russia for somehow restructuring our congress. The environmentalist mafia now controls these mindless people in Congress. Most everybody recognizes we have an energy crisis approaching critical mass. Corn is now over $7.50 per bushel. Gas across America is over $4.00 per gallon and rising. The list of problems relating to the cost of crude oil seems endless. America is in big trouble. Look no further than our Congress for the blame. America has plenty of oil. Billions of barrels are in the oil shale of Colorado. Alaska has billions of barrels of oil, according to Sen. Tom Coburn, enough to last us for more than 30 years. There is plenty of oil off shore. China and Cuba now have leases to drill for oil off the coast of Florida. Our U.S. Democratic controlled Congress will not let us drill. Not let us build nuclear power plants. Not let us recover our own recourses period because it might upset the environment. This is a lie. When the Democrats are questioned for why they are blocking recovery of our own resources, one of their reasons is; “If we drilled there today, it would be 10 to 15 years before we would see any benefit.” This leaves one with the opinion that they simply choose to do nothing and ignore the future. We have confidence in the Oklahoma delegation.
