As a volunteer for Shawnee Rescue Mission, I just want to say “Thank You” to Phil Stacey for the wonderful benefit concert he gave Sunday night at Raley Chapel. The capacity was not in the “overflow” area, but we had a great number of people show up to enjoy the great performance that he presented. He is an exceptional young man and he put his heart and soul into every minute that he was on stage - and off stage - signing autographs for the long line that waited for him.
Even when it was his official “break time” he sat at the piano and played - while the audience gathered around product tables and visited with each other. It was a wonderful end to a holiday weekend. The band was outstanding and would make anyone proud to be sitting in their midst - there’s nothing better that listening to “born again” band members, well known all over the world, giving their great ability to offer praise to the Lord. It was just a very great evening to sit in the presence of our God, because He was definitely there in the middle of the whole thing.
Mary Minion downloaded many great pictures onto “spotted” in the News-Star. You might want to check them out - I saw many people that I recognized and they might enjoy seeing how they were “captured” with Phil.
Shawnee Rescue Mission will continue doing a good work, even as we wait for our facility to become a reality. Since we are a local “non profit” organization, we don’t have the backing that Family Promise has, but we will continue to “give away” what is given to us. One day, the vision will be complete and our future facility will be made available to all who need it. We would like to give you, the caring people of Shawnee and surrounding areas, any and every opportunity to help us at any time. Your donations are always accepted with great joy and are used for the betterment of our community. For more information, please contact Melissa at 831-6904 or write to Shawnee Rescue Mission, P.O. Once again, thanks Phil Stacey. We appreciate you and your life. May God continue to richley bless you and your career. Come back and see us again real soon.
Pat Southerland,
Shawnee
