SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Thank you Jo for your timely letter. I agree the obscene profits of insurance and pharmaceutical companies should be seized by the Health Reform Czar to pay for our right to public health care. Why should immoral advertising coerce us to pay till we bleed just so evil CEOs and lazy shareholders can smoke hundred dollar cigars and swill 40-year-old Scotch at their luxury villas. And doctors. Why should doctors make so much money? They should be drafted by the Pay Czar as government employees to fairly cap their pay, and the Health InfoTech Czar should freeze their assets and reimburse every patient for the massive medical fees extorted by these so called healers. Any who quit their practice should be sued for misrepresentation and forced to work for the common good. Caring physicians indeed.
Shouldn’t we all have access to high-quality public health care run with post office efficiency? Health care so cheap it will drive out the malicious private companies, guaranteeing an equal level of care for all? How dare anyone say that private companies are more efficient and responsive than the federal government. That’s un-American. We all know the military provides the highest quality care and the Veterans Administration is renowned for both how quickly and how well patients are treated. Of course, the president and our representatives and senators should be provided superior care. They are so much more equal than we.
Speaking of equality, why should older people use 80 percent of medical care? With equal access shouldn’t all ages be fairly represented? Why should greedy seniors take so much of what should be available for all? We should ration the care they receive to ensure health-care costs remain low. After all, how can a fair society survive if we unnecessarily prolong the lives of those who are the greatest drain on its resources?
Thank you again, Jo, for your impassioned plea for us to contact our representatives and ask them to support the logical choice, I’m sure we all will follow your advice.
