To the Editor:
This is in response to Howard Hall’s letter about thousands of scientists rejecting the idea of humans causing global warming. He gave no sources for his assertions so I researched it on the Internet.
According to the Gallup Poll surveying meterological scientists:
• 97 percent say global warming is induced by people versus 5 percent saying it’s not.
• 70 percent say it will be difficult to manage versus 5 percent who say it will not be difficult.
• Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth” is rated better than any other news source.
Some other interesting facts are that CO2 combines with water in oceans and lakes to make carbonic acid, which is killing life in those bodies of water at an alarming rate.
Also, CO2 has risen from 339 parts per million in 1973 to 380 ppm in 2004.
The bar graph illustrating this fact goes straight up. Those statistics from NOAA.
A proponent of global warming being a lie is Sen. Inhofe. His “scientific research” has been debunked by almost everyone because he has included on his list of “scientists” is rife with economists. ... from corporations whose interests lie in proving global warming is not true. I personally saw his most influential scientist, Bjorn Lungren, on CSPAN testifying. This man, young and handsome, from Denmark, when questioned further by senators, had to admit he believes the Nazi Holocaust never occurred. He was Inhofe’s best shot at presenting his case.
Lastly, even if everything is true about global warming just being a natural phenomenon, wouldn’t it be nice to have clean air and water? Our aquifers are pretty terrible and our air, even here in Oklahoma, is smoggy. In fact, smog goes up three miles into the atmosphere around the globe.
I used to teach elementary school in the inner-city of Los Angeles. Almost half my class had asthma. And scientists say that the kids in Los Angeles have lungs the equivalent of those who smoke a pack of cigarettes a day.
One other benefit of going to alternative energy is the job stimulus it will provide.
Win-win-win, Howard!
