Mike and Lauren Walkup, of Weatherford, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Michelle Walkup, to Blake Compton, son of Odus and Paula Kaye Compton, of Shawnee.
The bride’s maternal grandmother is LaVerne Lewis, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and the paternal grandparents are the late Ricky Walkup and the late Pam Walkup and Lynn Young, of Hollis.
Maternal grandparents of the groom are Paul and Judy Paschall, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and paternal grandparents are the late Charles and the late Nelda Compton, of Ardmore.
Michelle is a 2009 graduate of Weatherford High School. She is attending OBU in Shawnee and is majoring in Music Arts with a minor in Bible. Michelle hopes to be involved with music ministry, author devotional literature, and pursue foreign missions.
Blake is also attending OBU, majoring in Biblical Languages with plans to attend Seminary school in the future. Blake feels called to full-time ministry, as well as music and missions. Blake is currently employed as the Youth pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Harrah.
The couple will wed July 9, 2011, at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee. After the honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple will be living in Shawnee while continuing their education.
