There is nothing more encouraging for me than to see someone begin to take control of their weight, health or active quality of life through exercise and proper nutrition.
When I hear someone make the commitment for better health, my mind fast forwards to how proud and excited they are going to be after successfully challenging themselves physically and mentally with a health and nutrition program for 90- 120 days.
Please believe that everyone can improve their health and active quality of life. You can physically be more active than you are now if you take proper steps to make improvements.
You can do this, because so much information is available and there are people out there who will help you. This encouragement is for everyone, no matter what age you are, and the decision is totally up to you.
I want to challenge everyone to please be just a little selfish for a change and budget time to makng great health and fitness choices every day for the rest of your lives.
Giving of yourselves to church, family, career, and friends is necessary, right along with a nice balance of exercise, proper nutrition, vitamins and water that energizes our spirits to magnify them all.
If you want to start, there is no time like the present, and the first step I encourage you to take is simply deciding to make taking care of yourself a major priority.
We are all very busy, and there are not enough hours in the day to add anything else, however, your health is one area we cannot afford to let decline or omit from our daily planning process.
If we lose our health we lose everything.  Just think, someone who has all the money in the world could go on a cruise any time they chose, but if unhealthy, will never be able to do so and enjoy it.
If you stop taking care of yourself and your health declines you will not have the energy to be productive in your career or give the deserved attention and energy it takes to be a vibrant mother, father, grandparent and yes, great-grandparent.
If you take only one message from this article, I would like it to be that the time, commitment, struggle, dedication and effort of taking care of yourself is worth every single minute.
The health benefit and rewards are absolutely too many to mention, but I really believe for the nice folks who read this column, the reasons are countless and clear.  Too me that is exciting.
I absolutely think more people are getting serious about health, nutrition and fitness for themselves and their families.
Exercise is very serious and fun at the same time. I just love it when people stop and talk to me about exercise and fitness.
It shows me that they see the importance, and are taking steps to make improvements. I see people young and old participating in regular weightlifting and cardio programs every week, and it brings joy to my day.
Come on Shawnee and surrounding communities, I want everyone to amaze me with your commitment to take care of yourselves this year, better than you ever have before.
Everyone deserves the joy of being able to physically do more, be more and enjoy life more, regardless of age. Keep up the good work and keep the questions coming.
Until next week please go out and make it a great fitness day.
