I think we get it now. People are angry, very angry and it is spreading across the country.
The angry man who burned his house then flew his small plane into a government building in Texas, is not the first nor will he be the last. I imagine he was a difficult individual to be around at home and work. He found his therapy in a burning building, his manifests and suicide, which also destroyed others. Talk about needing a Xanax.
People are throwing tea party’s all over America not just for change but they want to be heard. While political parties concern themselves with who is in control there is a growing frustration that no one is in control. Many long term career politicians are being tossed out and others are confessing they’ve had enough as they leave Washington. Some are weary, some are angry, some are giving up. A little well placed anger is good if it leads to positive action but wrath belongs to God.
It’s as if someone hit America’s thumb with a huge hammer and the entire nation cried out. Is anyone listening to the cry? Where are the words of comfort, cure, community? Leaders in the business, budget cuts and the scrutiny of public opinion. Many feel the pain and anger of the people.
The Bible says, “Be angry but do not sin nor let the sun go down on your anger.” (Eph. 4:2). Anger is a God given emotion, like other expressions it must be controlled and channeled. We may be in for some rougher waters on this sea of life if the Lord does not still the storm again.
More people have guns now than ever, which is our constitutional right but we better know how to handle the anger that handles the firearm. We live in an age of rage. People are violent. All over America there are battered women’s shelters because of angry abusive men. Children are beaten into fear by cruel angry adults.
Road rage is a daily threat on our crowded streets. Check the local stats, you’ll be amazed. Almost weekly some angry person at work or student at school kills people to sooth their wrath. Then the pundits on television begin to say, “We should have seen the signs...”; sure we should but we only talk on cell phones or text.
Then there’s the little angry president of Iran who has something bigger than a 45 caliber pistol. He and others, would, in anger, nuke the infidels without a thought. Hey. That’s us. Seems if any people should be angry it should be the people in Haiti, Africa, the slave women of the Middle East. Yet, in all the pictures, the children smile, the starving people ridden down with AIDS keep moving, digging out, looking up.
In the Book of Genesis, God Himself asked Cain... “Why are you angry?  Why is your face downcast?” (4:6). God said if we do what is right there will be acceptance. The opposite of anger is peace. The real peace comes from the Prince of Peace for any who would believe.
