Christian recording and performing artist John Michael Talbot will present an evening of music, meditation and prayer inside the St. Gregory’s Abbey Church on Monday, Sept. 14.
The event, slated for 7:30 p.m., is sponsored by the Oklahoma Alliance for Liturgy and the Arts (OALA), St. Gregory’s Abbey and St. Gregory’s University Campus Ministry.
There will be no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be taken.
“John Michael Talbot is well known in central Oklahoma, and it is always a pleasure to spend a reflective evening with him,” said SGU professor and OALA president Dr. Anne McGuire.
“The Oklahoma Alliance for Liturgy and the Arts supports a variety of Christian artists and is delighted to once again present John Michael Talbot in concerts, reflective talks, and prayer.”
Talbot, founder of the Catholic Association of Music, is one of the best known and most successful Catholic recording artists in the world.
In 1976, he became one of the first artists to record for Sparrow Records, and remains one of that label’s all-time best sellers with sales of more than three million copies covering over 40 albums.
Talbot’s signature voice and acoustical guitar playing is often combined with orchestral instruments into a classical/folk style of music.
He is also the founder of the Brothers and Sisters of Charity, an international, Catholic-based ecumenical community based in Arkansas.
He launched his own label, Troubadour for the Lord, and he continues to tour, record and pursue the musical vision God has given him.
