A McLoud woman, Mary Jo Garrison, died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of SH 102 and Hazel Dell Road.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Mary Jo Garrison, 46, died at the scene.
Garrison was driving a 2004 Ford Focus in that area as Leslie Rupp, 50, McLoud, was driving a 2005 pickup.
The OHP said Rupp was driving northbound on SH 102 before turning westbound on Hazel Dell Road. At the same time, the OHP said Garrison failed to stop her Ford Focus at the stop sign, resulting in Rupp’s pickup hitting the Ford Focus. The OHP said both vehicles departed the roadway, with the pickup rolling one-half time, the patrol said.
Troopers said Garrison died at the scene and Rupp refused any medical treatment.
Seat belts were equipped and in use in both vehicles.
Trooper Tyson Wright investigated the accident with assistance from other troopers, Kickapoo tribal police, the McLoud police and fire departments, REACT EMS and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.
