Shawnee Firefighter Tony Pack works to extinguish a two-acre grass fire near Garrett’s Lake Road and Butler Drive Wednesday afternoon. It was one many grass fires in Pottawatomie County Wednesday that kept crews from several fire departments busy. Other grass fires were reported on Juanita Lane in Bethel Acres, along SH 39 and near SH 59B and Leo in the Macomb area. The largest grass fire, which burned about 300 acres, was reported in the area of Rattlesnake Hill and Patterson Road. Multiple fire departments responded to that blaze. Extreme caution is urged as fire conditions remain high. Pottawatomie County remains under a county-issued burn ban.
