Deputy assessors will be in several Lincoln County communities next week to take exemption applications on personal property assessments, said Randy Wintz, Lincoln County assessor.
Deputy assessors will be at the Davenport Murphy Annex 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday and at the Kendrick Community Center 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday.
They will be at Meeker City Hall 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Wintz said Oklahoma law requires that all personal property, except livestock and household furnishings, be listed and assessed each year during the Jan. 1 through March 15 assessment period. Among property that must be listed and assessed are tractors, farm machinery, farm equipment, business inventories, business fixtures and business equipment.
New homestead exemption applications, double homestead exemption applications and senior valuation freeze applications also must be filed no later than March 15 to be effective for the 2009 tax year.
Wintz reminds veterans who are 100 percent disabled to bring their letters from the Department of Veterans Affairs confirming their eligibility if they are applying for the 100 percent Disabled Veterans Exemption for the first time.
