SHAWNEE, Okla. —

On the first day of filing Monday for two open seats on the Tecumseh City Council, one candidate has applied in each ward. The filing period continues through Wednesday.
Incumbent Ward 3 councilor Linda Praytor, 64, filed to retain her seat Monday.
In Ward 1, political newcomer Victoria Whited, 34, filed her candidacy Monday. The Ward 1 post is currently held by Trace Brown, who didn’t file for re-election Monday.
The filing period for seats on the Tecumseh City Council continues today and Wednesday at the Pottawatomie County Election Board inside the courthouse in Shawnee, 325 N. Broadway.
The filing concludes at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Candidates who don’t draw an opponent will win the seat unopposed, but if a race develops in either ward, elections will be Aug. 26.
