St. Gregory’s University will celebrate its fall commencement at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, inside W.P. Wood Field House.
Degrees will be conferred on 82 graduates, including 47 bachelor’s degree recipients, 18 associate’s degree recipients and 17 master’s degree recipients.
One of the day’s highlights will include an address by University of Oklahoma Professor of Law Dr. Michael Scaperlanda, who was named the Gene and Elaine Edwards Family Chair in Law at The University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2000. At OU, he teaches administrative law, constitutional law, immigration law, jurisprudence, and professional responsibility.
In addition to his teaching assignments at OU, Scaperlanda has been a visiting member of the University of Texas law faculty, served as an adjunct faculty member at the Oklahoma City University School of Law, and served as an adjunct for The University of Oklahoma political science department. He has served as a consultant to various organizations and corporations within his areas of expertise.
Scaperlanda has written several books, book chapters and articles. His latest book is “Immigration Law: A Primer,” written for federal judges. His other books include “Recovering Self-Evident Truths: Catholic Perspectives on American Law” (edited with Teresa Collett) and “The Journey: A Guide for the Modern Pilgrim” (with Maria Ruiz Scaperlanda).
Also scheduled to speak are SGU’s College of Arts and Sciences valedictorian Brittnie Sassaman and SGU’s College for Working Adults valedictorian Kimberly Behrnes. A reception will follow the commencement exercises in the Great Room of SGU’s Rockwood Center.
