Tecumseh firefighters responded to a fire Wednesday afternoon that destroyed a Pottawatomie County home.
Tecumseh Fire Department Assistant Chief Aaron Williams said officials received a call at 1:23 p.m. that a house was on fire at 37585 Dancing Streams Road. The home’s occupants made the call, he said.
The family, whose names were not released, had gone to the mail box at the end of the driveway, Williams said. When they returned to the house, a living room wall was on fire.
“It was totally involved when we got there,” Williams said. Officials arrived at the scene within 10 minutes of receiving the call.
The house is located just west of the intersection of Coker Road and Dancing Streams Road, three miles south of SH 9.
No one was injured in the incident, and officials notified the American Red Cross of the situation, Williams said.
Firefighters were at the scene for about two hours, Williams said, and no cause for the fire has been determined.
Williams said he estimates the damage total to be at least $60,000.
