Six candidates filed for municipal seats Monday in Pottawatomie County with the filing period continuing to 5 p.m. Wednesday. Pottawatomie County has six municipalities with open seats.
In Bethel Acres, Wesley H. Bynum Jr., 11 Burr Drive, Shawnee, and Mike Jackson, 36904 New Hope Road, Tecumseh, filed for the Ward 3 trustee position. Neal Davis, 17809 Deer Trail, McLoud, filed for the Ward 5 trustee position, while T.W. Garrison, 16409 Hwy. 102, Shawnee, filed for Ward 4 trustee.
In Maud, Roger Cunningham, 314 W. Franklin St., Maud, filed for the Ward 2 council member position, and Mike Green, 133 Betty Drive, Tecumseh, filed for Ward 4.
The following seats are open for election in Pottawatomie County municipalities:
• Pink — four-year term for Ward 2 and four-year term for Ward 4.
• Mcloud — four-year term for Ward 3, four year term for Ward 4 and four-year unexpired term for at-large council member, as well as a proposition for a 1 percent sales tax and a proposition for a 5 percent city occupancy tax.
• Maud — four-year term for Ward 2 and four-year term for Ward 4.
• Wanette — two trustee seats with four-year terms, two trustee seats with two-year unexpired terms and a two-year term for clerk/treasurer.
• Asher — two trustee seats with four-year terms and one trustee seat with a two-year term.
Bethel Acres — two-year unexpired term for Ward 3, two-year unexpired term for Ward 5, two-year unexpired term for clerk/treasurer, four-year term for Ward 2 and four-year term for Ward 4.
Candidates can file for positions at the Pottawatomie County Election Board Office, 325 N. Broadway, Room 105.
