SHAWNEE, Okla. —

Monday
The musical duo Tom and EuLeane Cook will perform country music 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at in the Legacy Park community room, 1701 Airport Drive, Shawnee. All senior citizens are invited free of charge.

Tuesday
JimTowsend will be the speaker at today’s weekly Rotary Club meeting at noon at the Golden Corral Restaurant. He will discuss rail issues and the importance of rail to this area in particular.

The St. Benedict Catholic Church Parish Guild will meet 1 p.m. A memorial service for departed loved ones will be held.

Part one of a two-part AARP safe driving class will begin 1 p.m. at the Shawnee Senior Center, 10th and Bell streets. All licensed drivers are welcome, and all who complete the class will be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance. The second part of the class will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday. A guest may attend per participant at no charge.

Wednesday
The Chrysanthemum Club will meet in the home of Nilima Kamath 9:30 a.m. today. Dorothy Defenbaugh will be co-hostess and Erma Slover will present the program. The Rose Unit will meet in the home of Kianna Kubicek at 9:30 a.m.  Kianna will also present the program. The Zinnia Unit will meet 1:30 p.m. in the home of Althea Stidman Stapp, who will give the program. The Redbud Unit will meet 1 p.m. in the home of Kaye Miller, hostess. Barbara Murphy will give the program.

Thursday
The second part of a two-part AARP safe driving class will begin 1 p.m. at the Shawnee Senior Center, 10th and Bell streets.

Saturday
The Animal Rescue Center of Shawnee (A.R.C.) has organized a spay/neuter clinic for low income households (less the $35,000 per household) for Saturday in Shawnee.  The cost will be $35 for dogs and $25 for cats.  If the animal’s shots are not current, the clinic will provide the booster shot for $5 and the rabies vaccination for $5. The organization performing the spay/neuters is able to provide these services at this low cost because they are subsidized by grants.  There are only 60 spaces available for this date and it will be on a first come first serve basis. The fee will be due when the pet is dropped off. Call A.R.C. at 405-431-9326 and leave a message with your name and contact phone number(s) or e-mail the information to admin@arcshawnee.org.

Nov. 12
The Sac and Fox Nation will have a special business committee meeting 9:30 a.m. in the small conference room of the Social Services Building at the Sac and Fox Nation Capitol Complex, six miles south of Stroud on SH 99.
