A Paden man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Saturday in Okfuskee County, and two others were killed in a separate crash on State Highway 9 in Seminole County.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigated both accidents.
The first accident occurred about 6:16 a.m. Saturday on a county road four miles north of Paden.
Anthony J. Lee, 20, Paden, died when his truck hit a pipe fence, the patrol said.
The OHP said Lee was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup northbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the roadway to the left and struck a pipe fence. Seat belts were not in use, the patrol said. Lee died at the scene.
Unsafe speed was listed as cause of that accident.
In a separate crash Saturday, two drivers died when their vehicles collided on SH 9 west of NS 367 in Seminole County about 3:53 p.m.
A 1970 Chevrolet pickup driven by Vernon Casey, 70, Wewoka, was eastbound on SH 9 while a 2008 Chevrolet HHR driven by Mary Puttkamer, 49, Wetumka, was westbound, the OHP said.
Troopers said Casey’s vehicle went left of center and struck the HHR head-on, and both drivers died at the scene from massive injuries.
A passenger in the HHR, Sanah Puttkamer, 14, Wetumka, was taken by Seminole Medicus to Integris Seminole Medical Center with unspecified injuries and was held for observation, troopers said.
The OHP said Casey was not wearing a seat belt.
