BURN Shawnee will be burning today and Saturday. This month’s burn is hosted by Emmanuel Temple of Praise and Deliverance, 37406 Westech Road in Shawnee. Attendees will be burning from 6 p.m. this evening to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
The church is near the U.S. 177 and Westech Road intersection.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released the statewide traffic fatality county. For the month, 60 people have died while boating, driving or biking on the states waterways and roads. For the year, 335 have died.
Through the same period in June 2008, there were 56 deaths for the month and 336 for the year.

Local motorists should expect various lane closures on westbound I-40 in the Shawnee area to continue today and resume on July 5 following the July 4 holiday.
According to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the crews are working on stimulus-related projects.
