Shawnee Chief of Police Bill Mathis will speak at 10:30 a.m. at the meeting of Shawnee AARP Chapter 2654 in the cafeteria of Liberty Baptist. Visitors are welcome. A meal is served for $5.

The Shawnee Rock and Gem Club will hold its free “Rock Hound Days” 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Shawnee Public Library. Among the activities are displays of mineral specimens; equipment to cut, grind, polish and turn a rock; stones that are cut, shaped and polished for jewelry; demonstrations of wire wrapping small stones to make jewelry and more. Children will receive free polished rocks.
