Wednesday, March 11
The retired railroaders will meet at 11 a.m. at the restaurant in the Cinderella Hotel, 623 Kickapoo Spur. Bob Seikel with the Shawnee Police Foundation will speak.

Thursday, March 12
The Pottawatomie County Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. in Room A of the Shawnee Public Library.

The ExxonMobil retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Ladonna’s in Meeker for lunch.

An AARP safe driving class will be held at the Shawnee Senior Center on Bell Street at 1 p.m. This is open to all licensed drivers. All completing the course will be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance premium. For more information, call Frank Kalies at 882-7115.

Grove School is accepting Pre-K (4 years by Sept. 1st) and Kindergarten (5 years by Sept. 1st) enrollment from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m Monday through Friday. Please bring your shot record, official birth certificate and proof of residence. If you have any questions, please call the office at 275-7435.

CELEBRATE RECOVERY - Thursday evenings at Evangelistic Center Church, 18502 Hwy. 177, in Shawnee. Childcare is provided. Dinner is served at 6, followed by the main meeting and small groups from 7 - 9 p.m. The Solid Rock Cafe is open from 9 - 9:30 p.m.

The third of the weekly Lenten Devotional Luncheons will be held at the First Baptist Church, beginning at 12:05 p.m. The weekly series is an annual inter-faith offering during the season of Lent and open to the public. A light lunch is provided by the host church following the devotional. Emmanuel Episcopal Church will be hosting the event on Thursday, March 19; St. Benedict’s Catholic Church on Thursday, March 26; and Univesity Baptist Church on Thursday, April 2.

The Shawnee ONG retirees will hear Joe Benton talk about getting ready for planting at the I Don’t Care Restaurant at 11:30 a.m.Whether you plant a few flowers and a few tomatoes or a large garden all ONGOERS are encouraged to come hear what he has to say.

Pottawatomie County Retired Educators will meet at 11 a.m. inside China Buffet, 1710 N. Harrison. The guest speaker will be Shirley Gregory, a registered nurse from the Center for Rehabilitation at Unity Health Center, South Campus. Her topic will be “Stroke - A Thief Among Us.” All retired teachers, education support personnel and school administration personnel are invited to attend.

March 17
There is a St. Patrick’s Day dance from 7 to 9 p.m. at Legacy Park community room. Tom and Euleane Cook will perform country and western music. Snacks will also be provided. The dance is free to seniors. Participants are encouraged to wear green.

Sooner Hospice is sponsoring “Love, Laughter and Legacy: After Loss,” which is a community educational and supportive program during the time of a loss. The program begins 10 a.m. For more information, call 405-692-8700.

Heartland Hospice volunteers are having their monthly meeting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the American Legion Building in Shawnee. Call Kay at 214-9091 with any questions.

The American Legion will meet at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate its 91st birthday. A ham dinner will be served and the ladies auxilary is encouraged to bring side dishes. All old members are encouraged to come and ice cream and cake will be served. The dinner will be at the American Legion Building in Shawnee.

Bilderback Singers will be in concert at Hart Street Full Gospel Church, 618 S. Hart, in Shawnee. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free. The pastor is Ellis Gregg.
