During the first day of a three-day filing period for open school board seats in Pottawatomie County school districts, races have developed in Grove, Earlsboro and Tecumseh.
For the Office No. 5 seat in Tecumseh, David J. Qualls filed to retain his seat and has two opponents — Sheila Evans and Mike Atchley.
In Earlsboro, Tracey Poe and Louie A. Goad Jr. filed for the Office No. 5 seat.
Two filed for the Office No. 1 seat at Grove — John R. Brown and Ernest R. Clark.
So far, single filers have declared their candidacy in these districts:
• Shawnee, Office No. 3 (Four-year term): Janice Spears.
• Shawnee, Office No. 6 (Four-year term) Jesse O. Hernandez.
• North Rock Creek, Office No. 1 — Rickey A. Gowin.
• Pleasant Grove, Office No. 1 — Jerry L. Skaggs.
• South Rock Creek, Office No. 1 — Mary Sue McNeil.
• Dale, Office No. 5 — Robin Wiley Greene.
• Bethel, Office No. 5 — Holli Jackson.
• Wanette, Office. No. 2 (Two-year unexpired term) — Kelly Teague.
• Asher, Office No. 5 — Tommy Gregg.
• McLoud, Office No. 5 — Jim Walker.
• Maud, Office No. 5 — Randy Kerr.
• Gordon Cooper Technology Center, Zone No. 2 — William Thompson.
