Monday
The musical duo Tom and Euleane Cook will perform from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at a 1950s dance in the Legacy Park ballroom, 1701 Airport Drive. For more information, call 878-8787 or 273-9882. All senior citizens are invited.

Sustainable Shawnee will sponsor a showing of the documentary “The 11th Hour” at the Troy and Dolly Smith YMCA center 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday
Phil Tomlinson, state secretary of Transportation, will speak to Shawnee Rotarians during their weekly noon luncheon at the Golden Corral Restaurant.

The Sac and Fox Nation Business Committee will hold a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. in the small conference room of the Social Services Building at the Sac and Fox Nation Capitol Complex, six miles south of Stroud on SH 99.

Kappa Kappa Iota will meet at 4 p.m. at Billy Boy Barbecue with Kappa President Teresa Templeton presiding. Kappa State President Jo Klingman will be the speaker. The group’s September project is donating to the Kempe Foundation.

Oklahoma Beta chapter of Delta Theta Chi sorority will meet at 7 p.m. at St. Stephens Church. Plans for the upcoming convention will be discussed.  Hostess is Sondra Bonds.
 
Downtown Shawnee Inc. Merchant Meeting will be 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the city hall commission chambers, 16 W. Ninth. Guest speaker is Jim Watters, assistant director of the Oklahoma Main Street Center.

An AARP safe driving class is scheduled Sept. 9 and 11 at the Senior Center on Bell Street. Class will begin a 1 p.m. each day and is open to licensed drivers. Everyone completing the class will be eligible for a discount on their auto insurance premium for three years. For more information, call Frank Kalies, 627-4750.

Wednesday
Retired Railroaders will meet at 11 a.m. at the I Don’t Care restaurant at the Best Western Cinderella Hotel. Guest speaker will be Kenneth Fullbright, director of the Santa Fe Depot Museum.
