Rail petition circulated at fair

The Pottawatomie County Democratic Party is circulating a petition during the Pottawatomie County Free Fair this week, asking Gov. Brad Henry to support efforts to create a passenger rail system between Oklahoma City and surrounding communities, including Shawnee.
The petition will be available at the Democratic Party booth, said Guy Goodine, chairman of the Pottawatomie County Democratic Party.
“Anyone can come by and sign it,” Goodine said, “and we may also circulate it among the crowds during the fair.”
The petition was drafted by Jim Townsend of Shawnee, a former Oklahoma corporation commissioner and state representative.
