NOW SHOWING AT THE CINEMA CENTRE 8: “Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay:” The same morning that Harold and Kumar eat at White Castle, Harold learns that Maria, the girl he lusts after, has set off for Amsterdam. The pair decide to pursue her so Harold can proclaim his love. However, an overzealous airline passenger mistakes Kumar for a terrorist, and the plane is diverted as the duo gets stuck in a case of mistaken identity. The comedy sequel stars John Cho, Kal Penn, Roger Bart and Neil Patrick Harris. (1 hour, 42 minutes) (R: strong crude and sexual content, graphic nudity, pervasive language and drug use) “Under the Same Moon:” Single mother Rosario (Kate del Castillo) leaves her young son Carlitos (Adrian Alonso) in the care of his grandmother and illegally crosses the border into the United States. Though she hopes to eventually make a better life for herself and her son, she toils in a dead-end job as a cleaning lady in Los Angeles. When Carlitos’ grandmother passes away some years later, the boy begins a difficult and dangerous journey to join her. The acclaimed drama stars Kate Del Castillo and Adrian Alonso. (1 hour, 49 minutes) (PG-13: for some mature thematic elements) “Forbidden Kingdom:” Jason (Michael Angarano), an American teenager, is a huge fan of Hong Kong cinema and old kung-fu movies. While browsing in a Chinatown pawn shop, he discovers the stick weapon of an ancient Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King. The magic relic transports Jason back in time, where he joins a band of legendary martial artists on a quest to free the imprisoned man. Jet Li and Jackie Chan star. (1 hour, 53 minutes) (PG-13: for sequences of martial arts action and some violence) “Forgetting Sarah Marshall:” Struggling musician Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) is better known as the boyfriend of TV star Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). After she unceremoniously dumps him, he feels lost and alone but makes a last-ditch bid to get over it by going to Hawaii. However, she and her new boyfriend (Russell Brand) are there in the same hotel. (1 hour, 51 minutes) (R: for sexual content, language and some graphic nudity) “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed:” Ben Stein follows his journey around the globe in this documentary where he discovers that scientists, educators and philosophers are being persecuted in a modern-day witch hunt because they dare to go against the theory of evolution. These pillars of education are being fired, ridiculed and ostracized for merely challenging Darwin’s theory — proposing that life on this planet could be a part of some intelligent design and not random chance. This thought-provoking film not only forces audiences to question what they have been taught but challenges them to ask — What else is being kept from us? (1 hour, 37 minutes) (PG: for thematic material, some disturbing images and brief smoking) “Street Kings:” Tom Ludlow, a veteran LAPD vice detective, sets out on a quest to discover the killers of his former partner, Detective Terrance Washington. Ludlow teams up with a young robbery homicide detective to track Washington’s killers through the diverse communities of Los Angeles. Their determination pays off when the two detectives track down Washington’s murderers and confront them in an attempt to bring them to justice. Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker and Hugh Laurie star in the crime thriller. (1 hour, 48 minutes) (R: for strong violence and pervasive language) “Prom Night:” A dark secret among a group of children comes back to haunt them in the form of a vengeful killer on their prom night. Brittany Snow stars in the horror-suspense thriller. (1 hour, 30 minutes) (PG-13: for violence and terror, some sexual material, underage drinking, and language) “Leatherheads:” In 1925, Dodge Connolly is a charming, brash football hero who is determined to guide his team from bar brawls to packed stadiums. But after the players lose their sponsor and the entire league faces certain collapse, Dodge convinces a college football star to join his ragtag ranks. The captain hopes his latest move will help the struggling sport finally capture the country’s attention. Welcome to the team Carter Rutherford, America’s favorite son. A golden-boy war hero who single-handedly forced multiple German soldiers to surrender in WWI, Carter has dashing good looks and unparalleled speed on the field. This new champ is almost too good to be true, and Lexie Littleton aims to prove that’s the case. A cub journalist playing in the big leagues, Lexie is a spitfire newswoman who suspects there are holes in Carter’s war story. But while she digs, the two teammates start to become serious off-field rivals for her fickle affections. As the new game of pro-football becomes less like the freewheeling sport he knew and loved, Dodge must both fight to keep his guys together and to get the girl of his dreams. Finding that love and football have a surprisingly similar playbook, however, he has one maneuver he will save just for the fourth quarter. George Clooney and Renee Zellweger star in the sports comedy. (1 hour, 54 minutes) (PG-13: for brief strong language) Dr. Seuss’ “Horton Hears A Who:” The imaginative elephant Horton hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community that thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help. The family animated film features the voices of Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett. (G: all ages) NOW SHOWING AT THE HORNBECK: “Fool’s Gold:” Ben “Finn” Finnegan is a good-natured surf bum turned treasure hunter who is obsessed with finding the legendary 18th-century Queen’s Dowry — 40 chests of exotic treasure that was lost as sea in 1715. In his quest, Finn has sunk everything he has, including his marriage to Tess Finnegan and his more-rusty-than-trusty salvage boat, “Booty Calls.” Finn discovers a vital clue to the treasure’s whereabouts and maneuvers himself aboard the yacht and convinces them to join him in the pursuit of the Spanish treasure. Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey star. (2 hours, 6 minutes) (PG-13: for action violence, some sexual material, brief nudity and language) NOW SHOWING AT THE PENTHOUSE: “Vantage Point:” Thomas Barnes and Kent Taylor are two Secret Service agents assigned to protect President Ashton at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide in the hunt for the assassin. In the crowd is Howard Lewis, an American tourist who thinks he’s captured the shooter on his camcorder while videotaping the event for his kids back home. Also, there is American TV news producer Rex Brooks, relaying the historic event to millions of TV viewers across the globe. Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, William Hurt and Sigourney Weaver star in the dramatic Thriller. (1 hour, 31 minutes) (PG-13: for sequences of intense violence and action, some disturbing images and brief strong language) COMING SOON: “What Happens In Vegas:” Two people discover they’ve gotten married following a night of debauchery in Vegas, with one of them winning a jackpot after playing the other’s quarter. The pair tries to undermine each other and get their hands on the money ... falling in love along the way. Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher star in the romantic comedy.
