He was born in Shawnee Nov. 29, 1998 , to Ricky McCray, Jr. and Jeanette Shoemake. A lifelong resident of the Shawnee/Tecumseh area, Hayden was an outstanding student at both Tecumseh and Shawnee Schools, receiving many honors. He was beloved by teachers, classmates, teammates, and all those who supported him, showing special love and care, especially during difficult times.

Hayden was an avid Sooner’s fan and enjoyed playing football for the Tecumseh Savages, making teammates who will never forget him. Thank you to Landon and his Coaches Gabe, Spud, Bugg, and Thompson.

Hayden will always be remembered for his wit, courage, adventurous spirit, and the ability to put a smile on anyone’s face. He always found humor in everything. He enjoyed all walks of life and was wise beyond his years. He was an eternal optimist, never allowing his circumstances stop him from living life to the fullest. Hayden enjoyed swimming, diving, sports, football, video games, movies, and loved being outside.

Hayden enjoyed traveling, trying all the pizza in New York, running up the steps in Philly at the Museum of Art, the SeaWorld waterpark Aquatica, the vistas of the Grand Canyon, and train rides throughout the country. Hayden was sophisticated dinner companion with exquisite tastes. Hayden loved his family, spending time with Gramps and his faithful dog, Country; going hunting, fishing, shooting, and other outdoor activities. Hayden loved being a big brother to Halynn. They shared special moments together wrestling and watching movies. Hayden and Halynn stood by each other through their difficult times and shared a unique bond that only brothers know.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Angelic Hospice and their staff for helping him and his family through such a trying time. They took Hayden into their family and treated him with kindness and love.
