Some of Monday night's City Commission items were:

• Commissioners went into executive session to review and discuss potential claims, litigation, or other options regarding U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma case, Circle D Pawn No. 4, Inc., v. City of Shawnee. When the board returned a half hour later, they authorized legal counsel to settle what they privately discussed for an amount they privately determined.

• As North Rock Creek School prepares for planned expansion by adding a high school, its board is requesting annexation of 75.6 acres into the City of Shawnee. The annexation will allow use of city services, such as police, fire, water/sewer and building inspections, Planning Director Justin DeBruin said. On Monday DeBruin asked City Commissioners to authorize staff to provide legal notice and advertise for a public hearing; they approved. City Manager Justin Erickson said the annexation item will be on the Jan. 17 City Commission agenda.

• On the Municipal Authority agenda, Steve Nelms, utility director, requested the City Commission award a bid by Normco Energy Products, LLC in the amount of $38,664.22, for a trailer-mounted six-inch trash auto prime pump — a price much lower than the city's $70,000 budget amount.
