A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of an Ada woman and shut down SH 39 east of Asher for several hours late Friday night.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the accident occurred about 8:11 p.m. on SH 39, about three miles east of Asher in Pottawatomie County.

Meagan Workman, 30, of Ada, was pronounced dead at the scene by a state medical examiner, the OHP reported.

She was driving a 2010 Ford F-150 westbound on State Highway 39. The patrol said her vehicle went left of center, departed the roadway to the left and then struck a tree. The pickup then became fully engulfed.

Cause of the collision is pending investigation. The OHP said seat belts were in use.
