Shawnee police have released the identity of the murder victim who was shot Wednesday at Chapel Ridge Apartments.

Shawnee Police Sgt. Dan Shumaker identified the shooting victim as Isaiah Anthony Harjo, 27.

Early Thursday morning, detectives announced they had arrested a suspect in the case.

Shawnee Police Detective Ronnie Wilson said Antonio M. Sambrano, 18, is being held in the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center on a complaint of first-degree murder. A formal charge has not yet been filed.

It was just before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday when emergency crews responded to a shots fired report at building 11 at Chapel Ridge Apartments, 130 E. 45h Street. Harjo was reportedly transported to OU Medical Center, but died from his wounds.

In the moments after the shooting, several nearby locations, including Shawnee Middle School, Gordon Cooper Technology Center and even a local daycare center, were reported to be on lockdown.

Shumaker, who said late Wednesday night that the male shooting victim had died from his wounds, confirmed the case was being investigated as a homicide. He said detectives would be continuing their probe throughout the night.

This is Shawnee's first homicide of the new year.
