The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Konawa man died in a Seminole County crash Thursday.

That accident occurred on SH 39 at County Road NS3520.

Justin Peterson, 34, Konawa, died at the scene from injuries suffered in that crash, the OHP reports.

He was driving a 2002 Saturn westbound on SH39 when his vehicle went left of center in a no passing zone and struck head-on a 2015 Chevrolet, the patrol reported.

Peterson was pinned in the wreckage for more than an hour and the driver of the pickup was pinned about 15 minutes. Both drivers were freed from the wreckage by Konawa firefighters using the Hurst Tool.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Ricky Barrett, 64, Sasakwa, was transported to Mercy hospital in Ada by Mercy EMS, where he was listed in stable condition with a leg injury.

Peterson's passenger, Cody Franklin 28, Duncan, went by Medi Flight to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he was listed in critical condition with head and truck internal injuries.

Seat belts were in use.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Brice Earls, #426, of the Seminole county detachment of Troop D, and he was assisted by Trooper Daniel Martin, #606, along with the Seminole County Sheriff’s office, Konawa Fire Department and Konawa Police Department.
