Walter “Skip” Jefferson, 64, of Norman, passed from this life Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in Norman.

Skip was born May 20, 1952, to Hoover Jefferson and Charlesetta Vaden, in Shawnee.

Skip was raised in Brooksville, Oklahoma, and was a 1970 graduate of Macomb High School. He moved to Shawnee and has lived in the Shawnee area most of his life.

He married Anda Howard on Oct. 3, 1978, and she preceded him in death Oct. 2, 1999.

Skip gave his life to Jesus Christ in 2015.

Skip spent most of his life as a professional bull rider, winning several trophies. His true passion was training horses. He loved being around his nieces and nephews, riding horses with them and playing dominoes (in the bottom).

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anda Jefferson; father, Hoover Jefferson; mother, Charlesetta Vaden; a much loving step-father, Johnnie Vaden; and sister, Linda Banks.

Skip is survived by eight sisters, Patricia Cooks (Lewis) of Chandler, Arizona, Johnzetta (Vaden) Fraizer of Denver, Colorado, Janice Vaden of Oklahoma City, Janice (Vaden) Thompson of Oklahoma City, Joan Vaden of Oklahoma City, Yvonne Neal of Enid, Joy Vaden of San Francisco, California, Jacqueline Vaden of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Charles Oliver (Thelma) of Norman, Kenneth Vaden of Tulsa, Kelvin Vaden of Sacramento, California, and Leonardo (Tuffy) Vaden of Shawnee; Aunt Edwina Pettis of Seattle, Washington; Uncle Larry Jeffries of Oklahoma City; good friend Ike Brannon; special cousin Tom Cooks; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving extended family members and friends whom he loved and enjoyed hanging out with.

We also would like to especially thank Cedar Creek Nursing Center and the McCortney Family Hospice for taking such loving care of our brother.

Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at Sharon Baptist Church with Pastor Terry N. Wilson, Everlasting Life Baptist in Norman, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Repast Dinner will be served at the Citizen Potawatomi North Reunion Hall, 1702 Gordon Cooper Dr., Shawnee.
