Seven candidates have filed so far for the open House of Representatives District 28 seat and Wednesday is the last day of the three-day candidate filing period.

Seven candidates have filed so far for the open House of Representatives District 28 seat and Wednesday is the last day of the three-day candidate filing period.

Filings are being held at the Oklahoma State Election Board to fill District 28, a seat that was recently vacated with the resignation of newly-re-elected Rep. Tom Newell.

As of late Tuesday, the filing so far are:

Republican candidates: Billy Choate, 50, Seminole, Daniel J. Matthews, 36, Meeker; Zack Taylor, 33, Seminole.

Democratic candidates: Steve Barnes, 60, Wewoka; Jason Leonard, 50, Seminole; and Yasminda Choate, 37, Sasakwa.

Libertarian: Cody Presley, 39, Wewoka.
