Citizen Pottawatomie Nation officials have released additional information on today's deadly shooting at the FireLake Grand Casino.
"At approximately 6:49 a.m. this morning there was a tragic incident involving two employees of the Grand Casino. The victim was 22-year-old Matthew Palmer," the release shows. "Justin Wells, 28, was taken to OU Medical Center. We cannot provide any information on his condition at this time."
Because the incident occurred in a non-public area of the casino administrative offices and most employees had not yet arrived for their shift, no casino guests or other employees were endangered, CPN reported.
The FBI is now leading the investigation and will have the full cooperation of casino security and tribal police.
The incident was between two employees and occurred in the administrative offices area of the casino. CPN Police Chief James Collard said at no time during the incident were any other employees or patrons at risk.
Early Tuesday, Collard said one person was dead at the scene and another person was transported by helicopter ambulance to Oklahoma City.
Collard said they've been assisted by McLoud and Absentee Shawnee Tribal police, along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, District Attorney's office and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office. the FBI also is on the scene.
While there are many questions about what did happen involving the two employees, Collard said he couldn't release much else about the case to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is ongoing.
