Joanna Palmer Morris, 91, of Sasakwa, departed this life on Jan. 20, 2017, at her home.

Joanna Palmer Morris, 91, of Sasakwa, departed this life on Jan. 20, 2017, at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1925, in Sasakwa to the late Wilsey Palmer and Silla Narcomey Palmer. She attended Becone High School, Sasakwa and Chiloco. Later, she worked for Seminole Nation for 13 years a Tribal treasure and the Sylvania plant Shawnee.

Joanna was an active member of Spring Baptist Church. Her hobbies were cooking, shopping, traveling, going to garage sales and thrift shops. She was a council member for over 20 years.

Joanna was well known for her sense of humor and jokes, she always had a pleasant smile.

Joanna married Verl William "Bill" Morris on July 7, 1973, in Sasakwa. Bill preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2010.

Also, preceding Joanna in death are her parents, sisters; Eula Isabella Palmer, Elizabeth "Liz" Palmer Delware, and Rosie Ann Albert; brothers, Thomas "Chito" Palmer, Frank Holutke Palmer and Samuel Ray Palmer.

Survivors include nephews Tommy Palmer, Terry Palmer, Mike Palmer, David Albert, and Stephen Albert; nieces Priscilla Johnson, Teakah Cruz, and Sandra Blue and host of other relatives and friends.

Pall bearers will be Joshua Albert, Samuel Blue, Chebon Blue, Danny Palmer, Brian Palmer, Kevin Palmer and Devin Wakolee.

Honorary pall bearers will be Chebon Palmer, Terry Palmer, Mike Palmer, David Albert, Stephen Albert, Adam Palmer and Alex Palmer.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 26, at Spring Baptist Church, Sasakwa, with Rev. Jimmy Anderson and Rev. Frank Moppin officiating and burial to follow at Palmer Family Cemetery.
